This course helps high school students strengthen their understanding of key biology concepts. Students will explore topics such as cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, ecosystems, and the diversity of living organisms. Through interactive lessons and virtual labs, students will build scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills, preparing them for success in future science courses.

This course is fully asynchronous. Scholars should plan to spend an average 3 hours Monday-Friday completing independent, asynchronous work. The estimated total time to complete this course is 56 hours.

Great Hearts Online Summer School is open to all current and incoming Great Hearts students. This summer courses include daily asynchronous video instruction, weekly tutoring opportunities, and access to our Great Hearts curriculum using the online learning platform, Canvas.

Courses will begin June 4th and run through July 31st.

Each course receives 1.0 credits for the summer session. The courses will focus on foundational skills and will serve as credit recovery for semester 1, semester 2, or both. Summer grades will be factored into a student’s overall GPA.

Please Note: There is a 5 student minimum to host a course. If a course has less than 5 students registered, the course may be cancelled and refunded.
