Designed for seniors preparing for college and professional settings, the course emphasizes audience analysis, speech organization, delivery techniques, and effective use of research and visual aids. Through practice in informative, persuasive, and special occasion speeches, students develop clarity, poise, and the ability to communicate ideas thoughtfully and persuasively.

How It Works

  • Scholars can opt to earn college credit for designated courses by completing the registration process online. Note: Payment is due at the time of registration.
  • Scholars will attend the course at their Great Hearts campus without any changes to the curriculum.
  • Scholars will complete 3-5 college assignments in Canvas, the online Learning Management System. Note: Work and experiences from the Great Hearts course may be used to complete these assignments.
  • A Great Hearts Online faculty member, approved by West Texas College, will grade the assignments based on the rubrics and learning outcomes of the course.
  • Scholars will receive a high school letter grade based on their performance in the Great Hearts course.
  • Scholars will receive a college letter grade based on their performance on the 3-5 assignments in Canvas and completion of the Great Hearts course.
