Description

This English I Summer School course provides an accelerated study of literature and composition that emphasizes careful reading, thoughtful analysis, and clear, disciplined writing. Students explore short fiction, rhetorical forms such as encomium and invective, and a sustained study of Shakespeare’s Othello, engaging deeply with character, theme, and moral choice. Through seminar-style questions and structured writing assignments, scholars practice forming well-reasoned arguments and expressing ideas with precision. The course culminates in extended analytical and argumentative essays, preparing students for the demands of high school literature through close attention to language, structure, and meaning.
