Great Hearts Online Summer School is open to all current and incoming Great Hearts students. All summer courses include daily, live video instruction M-Th, weekly tutoring opportunities, and access to our Great Hearts curriculum using the online learning platform, Canvas.
This course will begin on June 3rd and run through June 30th, during Session 1 (1 Hour) (8:00-9:00). You can view the session schedule HERE. Please note that all times are listed in Arizona Local Time.

This course is designed to strengthen and solidify foundational language skills for scholars completing second grade and preparing to enter third grade. Through systematic phonics instruction, careful reading practice, and guided writing, students will deepen their understanding of how language works and how meaning is clearly communicated. Scholars will study phonograms using the Spalding method, apply grammatical knowledge through sentence analysis and diagramming, and develop fluency and confidence in reading connected text. Writing instruction emphasizes clear structure, accurate conventions, and thoughtful presentation, enabling students to express ideas in complete, well-formed paragraphs. By the end of the course, scholars will be prepared for the increased expectations of third grade reading, writing, and grammar.
