Great Hearts Online Summer School is open to all current and incoming Great Hearts students. All summer courses include daily, live video instruction M-Th, weekly tutoring opportunities, and access to our Great Hearts curriculum using the online learning platform, Canvas.
This course will begin on June 3rd and run through June 30th, during Session 1 (8:00AM-10:30 AM). You can view the session schedule HERE. Please note that all times are listed in Arizona Local Time.
Please Note: Once you complete your order, you will receive an email with your receipt and instructions to complete registration through the Jupiter Ed portal. Registration is not complete until you receive confirmation that both payment and the application are complete.

This 6th Grade Literature and Composition course strengthens students’ mastery of language as an instrument for expressing truth and understanding human experience. Through the careful study of great works of literature, including novels, poetry, and short stories, scholars encounter well-ordered and beautiful language while reflecting on enduring themes of character, virtue, and human nature. Students develop clarity of thought through structured writing, progressing from descriptive and narrative paragraphs to analytical and multi-paragraph essays. Instruction emphasizes attentive reading, thoughtful discussion, and precise use of grammar, cultivating the habits of careful reasoning and articulate expression. Through this study, scholars grow in their ability to read with understanding, write with purpose, and delight in the order and meaning of language as they participate in the great literary tradition.
