Art Theory
Scholars will study the elements of art (lines, shape, form, value, texture, space, and color) through observation of the world and other classical works of art. Scholars will have the opportunity to learn from artists such as Klee and Matisse, Cezanne and Monet, and Munch.
Art Practice
Scholars will complete collaborative and individual art pieces to practice the elements of art using various mediums like watercolors, oil pastels, graphite, etc. There will also be a final cumulative project to showcase what was learned and practiced throughout the year. Remember, “if you can draw anything, you can draw everything with the use of the elements”!

Whether your family travels regularly or your child spends their day pursuing a personal passion, the Flex Program is a wonderful alternative to traditional schooling. Select your courses individually or as a full-time curriculum and school at your own pace. Families that choose the Flex Program enjoy maximum independence while still receiving the same rigorous, classical education Great Hearts is known for. Flex Program courses can be purchased via private pay or through ESA funds in Arizona, Utah, and New Hampshire. ESAs or Educational Savings Accounts are only available in certain states.
